As I think about all that I'm presenting Divine Love Spirituality to be, it appeals to me to see it as a contrarian spirituality. It's certainly going against the flow, against what is considered normal by the standards of existing religions and alternative belief systems.
And the alternative so-called spiritual belief systems, including those people in the 'Divine Love movement' , are for me, yes, alternatives to mainstream religion, but still they are all just different versions of the same: more self and feeling denial.
DLS is completely contrarian to all of them, because it's about going the other way, back into yourself through your bad feelings to uncover the truth of your soul; it's about facing all the yuk and bad stuff that you are and not trying to use your mind to add yet more levels of belief or religious practice to block it out.
So DLS might be difficult to accept, however as far as I'm concerned, it's all one has left when one has exhausted all other avenues - when one has to accept one still feels bad.
